Frequently Asked Questions
General
Yes, we encourage parental involvement in the tutoring process. We provide regular updates and progress reports to parents, and we are always available to discuss their child's progress and address any concerns. Parental support is crucial for the student's success, and we value open communication with parents.
Our elementary math tutoring sessions cover a wide range of topics including place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, data analysis, measurement, and basic geometry. We tailor our sessions to meet the specific needs of each student, ensuring they grasp fundamental concepts and build a strong foundation in math. We do not move on from a topic that is not mastered, so no child is left to "figure it out".
We understand that schedules can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance to avoid any cancellation fees. This allows us to accommodate other students who may need that tutoring time and may be on a waiting list.
Our approach to homework help involves guiding students through their assignments, helping them understand the concepts, and providing strategies to solve problems independently. We aim to build their confidence and problem-solving skills. We encourage them to upload homework into the live class for help or to upload their homework into the google classroom stream for immediate help when it's not class time.
We use a variety of resources including textbooks, online manipulatives, interactive games and programs, videos, and practice worksheets. These resources are selected to match the student's learning style and to make the sessions engaging and effective. They vary by session. We use Google Classroom as our LMS system and the link to our live video tutoring sessions will be found within Google Classroom under the Classwork tab. This is also where homework and assessments will be posted as well. Google Classroom is the student portal for for all things Math Coach Tutoring. Information on how to access Google classroom can be found under the Classroom Info tab at the top of the website. This explains everything you need to know about how to access the classroom including video tutorials.
Yes, We assign homework to practice the skill learned during our session. The homework can be found under the Classwork tab in google classroom. We also assign assessments to test progress periodically as we go. This will also be found under the classwork tab of google classroom. Sometimes I might also do live assessments during class near the end of the session in the form of a game so it's fun and interactive but still testing knowledge.
